I know, right?
Woohoo!
Leanne's mod pop version soon to be a pillow |
Retired to Quilt's fabulous spiral quilted pillow |
Canvas Pattern by Leanne at She Can Quilt
Don't you just love the pop that these pillows give to a room?!! Well, now you, too can add some zest to your decor by entering to win the Canvas Pattern, below. The pattern is sized for everything from pincushions like Debbie from A Quilter's Table made (I can't get a picture of these adorable pincushions to load, but you can check them out thru the link, it's worth it).
To King size for Quilts or things in between like these delights:
I wanted to make a pillow in Lori Holt's Vintage Happy as a part of the Finish Along over at The Littlest Thistle, but instead chose to make a pillow from the Canvas pattern to compliment the Bee Inspired Quilt that I made to celebrate Spring and Bees. You can read all about that, here :)
I'm a big fan of envelope backs on pillows as they make the pillow sturdier and seem to work out better for me in the wash. It has nothing to do with a fear of putting in zippers, really. No, really.
Ok, so it does, but I'll be over that soon!
I began with this pile of scraps
Then pieced them as per the pattern, with a little juggling of yellows along the way,
Then matchstick quilted the pillowtop and chose a golden yellow back to continue the summer sunshine theme. And to shop from the stash, which is just getting out of hand. But, that's not a bad problem to have, right??
Then Cut my backing, overlapped my sides to make the envelope (tutorial on how to do this), and sewed the whole shebang together.
Yippee!!!!
Giveaway closed. But you can still get the pattern on Leanne's website, www.shecanquilt.ca
XXOO!

I would make cushions using light blues and springy greens and adding a dash of pale rose somewhere. I've seen lovely curtain fabric in those colours and intend to decorate my living room with it soon and this pattern would make great scatter cushions.
ReplyDeleteOOH, Wow! That sounds awesome!!
DeleteI love the colours you chose. I was thinking of a grey and yellow cushion, but now I'm wondering about a monochrome ombre version
ReplyDeletemmm mmm mmm! I like both of those choices!!
DeleteI would make cushions with batiks. They would match perfectly with a quilt that I'm sneaking time in on. :) Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool to see it in batiks, too! I hope we get to see a pic of both the quilt and pillows!!
DeleteYour pillow is gorgeous! I love blue and orange, and yours is so bright and vibrant. Cool straight quilting too.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!!! My straight quilting does take an occasional wee wander, doesnt it ;) But that's what I like about the modern movement!
Deletelove the pattern- would love to make some pillows and that tutorial on the envelope backs will come in handy! Blues and purples and something loud for the border- lime green floral?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah!!! purple and lime green!!!
DeleteI would make a pincushion, probably with some pink-ish fabric that I bought for a project and then realized that it really didn't go with the rest of the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me all of the time;) and then, it ends up being perfect for something else! Cant wait to see your pincushion!!
DeleteThe yellow is so pretty - I decided to like yellow when my grade school best friend decided it was her favorite color!
ReplyDeleteLol!!! That's how I ended up with bangs!!!
DeletePillows like these would help my family room.
ReplyDeleteI really like the matchstick quilting
And would need to make these in green orange and brown.
the square made with the black printed back fabric --- looks so totally different
Isnt that cool?! I would love to see pillows in these colors!!!
DeleteOrange/Yellow and Purple (like your flowers on the side of the blog) would be the colors. Why because I have always loved this colors. Pillow size looks good. 24Tangent "at" gmail "dot" com
ReplyDeleteThose pillows would be Dee-Lish!!!
DeleteI love your cushion with your quilt Spring and Bees, I don't want to be a copy cat, but I just love the way Navy and Yellow look together lately, a gal on my SMS giveaway days picked those as her favorite colors and I put a bundle together for her, and now all I can thing about is what I want to make in those colors.
ReplyDeleteIt's true!! such a happy combo that I can't seem to give it up for something else, right now :))
DeleteI'd love to make lots of sizes!! I need to make a baby quilt for July so maybe a white background with pinks??
ReplyDeleteooh!! that would be completely lovely!!!
DeleteI would make pillows using reds and white. These pillows would be for my neighbour who is crazy about red & white. Her house (outside) is white with red trim and she just finished painting a red feature wall in her living room. Thank you for the give away.
ReplyDeleteioleen.kimmel@gmail.com
Wow!! that would be so striking!!! i would love to see a pic of the pillows 'in action' in her living room!!
DeleteI need new cushions! I love Navy and coral! thanks!
ReplyDeleteYumm! navy and coral are such a great combo!!
DeleteI seem to make lap size quilts the most. My fav colour is green, I walk into a shop and it's as if there is a rope pulling me straight to the greens. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI think greens would be spectacular in this pattern!! A rope pulls me into every quilt shop, so I feel what yer sayin'!
DeleteI need purples! I would make a Quillow (a quilt that folds into a pillow) love the design and simplicity of it. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea!!!!! Purples are so lovely!!
DeleteI looove your Pillows! & colors you used too! :)
ReplyDeleteI would do mine in blues & greens...then some in purples for my NC Daughter...& thern more in browns & blues for Daughter close by! lol
Thats a whole lotta love!! I would really enjoy seeing all of the finished products!!
DeleteI am on my own stash reduction mission at the moment. Looking at your pillows, I thought that I should consider making a pillow case...that would eat up some fabric. I probably would use a dark background with my favourite country fabrics as a center.
ReplyDeleteThat would be bliss!!! I dont think I have seen any done like that! Send us some pics!!
DeleteI love the pattern as a pillow and I'm in need of some summer ones for out back. I want to do them in aqua and pink. I can see the them in my head, they look so good. Thanks for a chance to win. Have a great day
ReplyDeleteI can see them in my head too, and they sure DO look good!!!!
DeleteYay! Your beautiful quilt has a pillow to go with it! I had seen these pillows at she can quilt but I LOVE the pattern as a lap sized quilt. I think this pattern lends itself to bright, busy patterned fabric in the center and a solid background. I have a stack of psychedelic polyester that I've been planning on turning into a lap quilt that is an enlarged block. (backed in cotton of course) Also thanks for all of your great tutorials! I must bite the bullet and make some pillows. :)
ReplyDeleteWhaaaat??!! That sounds stupendous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you clearly need to send us some pics when you make them!!!!!
DeleteI would make pillows with 2 shades of green, coral and palest of yellow.
ReplyDeleteOOh wow!!! I have gotta see that!!! so lovely!!
DeleteI love this pattern! I would make it cushion size and use purples to accent the orange cushions I currently have on my couch.
ReplyDeleteComplements!! and so striking! I love it!!
DeleteI would make cushions for our living room inspired by a beautiful needlepoint picture I found in the garbage taped around cardboard and hung with a paperclip, which I rescued and had professionally framed -- humming birds and flowers in teal, green, pinks, blues and browns. So those are the colors I'd use. Thanks! sarah@forrussia.org
ReplyDeleteOOh OOh OOH!!! So glad you found that picture!! These sound awesome!!
DeleteI'm a quilt person...ie make it big or go home. I'd have to do it in purples.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd looove to see it!!
DeleteWould make a turquoise and purple cushion, just my favourite colours
ReplyDeleteOOH!! I would love to see how you would put those colors together! Stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI do like your color choices. I would like to sew a cushion for my daughter who likes yellow. I would copy your colors in the cushion pictured with the quilt.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole!! i am just in love with yellow and blue right now :)) Cant wait to see your pillows!!
