Paperie SewTogether Bag

Today's Finish is my Paperie SewTogether Bag.
Made with scraps from my Paperie
And, man, is it lurverly!!
I hand stitched around all of the red and orange heart shaped leaves from the Gathering Blooms Panel
Then matchstick quilted in Aurifil Seafoam(2835), Light Pink(2423), and Off White(2021) all across the front panel. I only use Aurifil when I sew, and it works like a dream in my Pfaff, Janome and vintage Singer.
When you're constructing your Sewtogether Bag, and you want to add a fancy outside, be sure to cut your pieces extra long and wide, as you will embellish them Before you trim them and sew the bag together. If you begin with sides cut to the correct finished size, your bag will probably shrink and be smaller on the outside than it should be. So cut large and trim down, later!
On the other side, I used scraps of my favorite quotes from Amy's wonderful Paperie fabric, Quoted. So marvelous!! Then I fit in bits of the leftover scraps that were less than 2.5 inches, because I could not bear to lose them and wanted to see them every day.
And the Answer to the Question, of course!!
I used Eponine as the outside sides, and Manuscript as the binding... I can see owning yards and yards of this marvelous print!
I used a felt heart as my needle rest :)
And lined each zipper opening in velvet ribbon, with zippers to match. I placed the ribbon lower on the mint zipper pocket, to underline the wonderful quotes that Amy chose to use. Sigh!! Happiness!
The pocket interiors are Kona solids that sing with the Paperie line. The back lining is Happily Ever After, and the inside sides are Cosette. Find the entire line shown with names, here
The bottom is a section of the Gathering Blooms Panel, I added this to the pattern as I wanted extra space at the top of my bag, over the zippers, in case I needed to put a 4"square cutting template or other large object into the bag for safe keeping while I travelled to and fro.
Sweetness!!
Go and grab some Paperie as fast as you can!! It's limited edition and when it's gone, it's gone!!
That Happily Ever After heart print comes in wide for backings, too!! Drool!!

And as if knowing that all of this lovely is out in the world, wasn't enough, my sponsor, Calico Cat Fabrics, has some very nice sales going on for you!!
I kid you not, she has Tula Pink Plum Ship Shape on sale for $3.69 a half yard. Sheer lunacy!!
Tanya has also just gotten entire ranges of novelty prints, so if a Dr Who Sewtogether Bag needs to be in your future, or a Sewing Themed bag, or Campers  (I mean, Campers!! So cute!!!), or Disney, hop on over and check her out!  All of her Riley Blake and Lecien are on sale until they're GONE!!

So Much Fun!!!
Moose slip on the ice, too ;)

WIP Wednesday Teal and 241 Totes Galore!

I've just returned from a weekend retreat with my Quilting Ladies.
Fall has come to Alaska. Glorious cerulean skies, crisp breezes and Golden Yellow birch and aspen. My quilting lady Camilla made a mid-sunday raid on the crab apple trees outside of the community library, perchance committing some sort of fruit felony? And brought us all luscious crab apple butter for our hot toast. That Camilla. She really knows how to treat a girl!!

This time, our retreat was in a center located near Kenai, and a lake with loons. Not us, the avian kind :)
I love to wander through the leaves and smell the Fall scented air.

The roses have all made hips, packed with vitamin C. It is some sort of banner year for them, I have never seen them so big and luminous. I'm thinking a quick forage and a make of jelly is in order. What do you think?

I'm working on four more 241 Totes. Please excuse these miserable pictures. I'll take more tomorrow, But I bet you won't see finished totes by Friday! Lol!! That's because I'm working on these exciting projects...
I'm enlarging the Modern Dogwood pattern so that you can cut all of the curves with your Sizzix or AccuQuilt cutter. They will be MUCH quicker to piece into a quilt, as this will make each block quite big. I can't wait to show you the finished quilt that I am making for you!!
I am working on a Modern Dresden for Quilt Con. If you pin this, please reference me :) I think it will make a super fun quilt!!
I'm also working on this Triangle Dresden for the Teal Mug Rug swap to increase awareness of Ovarian Cancer. I hope my recipient likes it!!
And check out this SWEET basket I found at a local Value Village!! I'm going to redo the inside in Cherry and red polka dot fabric. Fun!!
My Rudbeckia's are still going strong, despite the fact that we just had a frost... oh yeah, I better get the potatoes in!!
These red berries are favorites of bears. How do I know, you ask?? Well, you had better watch your step out on the trails just now, or you'll know how, too!! ;0 (which, by the way, answers the Age old question with a resounding, YES!)
Skookum's cousin, Bacon, is visiting us for three weeks. Man, are we having a BLAST!!

Now, don't forget!! If you head on over to Calico Cat Fabrics to steal some fabric, use the CODE SEWPSYCHED  to get FREE domestic shipping on ANY order of $50 or more. The code is good for all of September, so you had better get shopping ;0
Tanya has some Lecien on sale for $4.15 a half yard. I will literally sew for the cats, with prices like that!

Heather Ross and Cotton and Steel Double Gauze And a Free Charm Pack!

Oh Dear!!

I Fear,

I have gone,

Far, FAR Away

from my budget...

But that's ok :)

When I saw this Heather Ross Far Far Away bundle, and saw a Cotton and Steel double gauze bundle on sale at the same time, I knew it

HAD TO BE.

And, so it was ;)

My plan is to make a simple-ish grid quilt, fussy cutting the Heather Ross and having the backgrounds be the double gauze, for the softest, coziest, softest baby quilt, Ever

OR

Maybe a quilt for me...
 Don't you tell any babies!!

Have you tried double gauze? How do you like sewing with it?

Sweetness!! Sunday Stash and Sale

Oh MY!!!

Check out this sweetness that I recently received
from an Instagram destash by

Do I know what I am going to make from these lovely fabrics, you say????

Of course not!!

But who could resist such delicate sweetness??

When I think of the perfect cottage-y, summery, birds singin' quilt, I think of these sorts of fabrics. And someday, when the breeze is blowin the cherry embroidered curtains in at the windows, and the pie's a coolin' on the sill, I WILL make this quilt.
Until then, I will pet, and admire, and pet these lovely fabrics. And I won't feel badly about that at all!!

Do you know about Instagram destash sales??? Well, let me tell you! You know I'm all about the acquisition! ;)
If you go on to Instagram and search the hashtag #greatfabricdestash or #greatfabricdestashuk you will find gazillions of posts by folks looking to sell off some of their stash. This last week I scored some awesome Heather Ross, which I'll show you in another post. You never know what you will find there. Out of print fabrics, notions, fabrics for dressmaking, bag making bits, it's all there!!
Like a huge fleamarket...

You know I can't resist!

Tula Pink Elizabeth on Sale! Stash Sunday

I recently stashed a design roll of Tula Pink's Elizabeth collection. I've been waiting forever to own this line. I've got a question to ask you at the end of the post, but first,

Calico Cat Fabrics has Tula Pink Elizabeth on sale right now, at $4 a half yard! I know...

SCORE!!

Don't you love the clam shells? They really shimmer when added to solids, and go with so many other lines. Love Love Love!

I have several fat quarters of the Bats in the Belfry prints set aside for my next SewTogether Bags.

I think they will look stupendous with these prints combined with some secret stash, don't you?

And check out this Sky Ship Shape!! Can you see the ships and sextants? I love it!!

You can click below, to see what else Tanya has in stock.

Here is a smattering of what you can find there...

Jelly Rolls GALORE!
Carolyn Friedlander's Doe! I do not know how this can possibly still be there. But it is! If it hasn't sold soon, I'm going to go over and steal it, and then you will all have to just be sad sad sad.

Pam Kitty Garden!!!

More Jelly Rolls!
Robert Kaufman Indigo. Yummy!

What a variety! There are many many more selections, I just found these to be particularly to my liking, today :)

You may want to note this down... Here are the upcoming sales for the month of August at Calico Cat Fabrics. I wanted to let you know while you were planning your August budget:

August 1-8: FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING (LOVE2SEW),  and $5 off of International Shipping (LOVE2SEW5) on any order of $40 or more.

August 9-16: Spend $35 or more on Riley Blake/Penny Rose and get $5 off of your order!

August 17-24: Spend $50 or more on Kona Solids and get a free Kona Charm Pack of your choice (up to a $10 value)... add the charm to your cart and use code FREEKONA2

And now... I NEED YOUR HELP...

Here are my two sad jelly rolls... purchased from a different vendor, who didn't pack them in plastic, and they were tumbled about in the mail... A Tula Pink Elizabeth and a Kaffe Fassett shot cotton...
Well, you can see!!
(But I think they'll make a spectacular quilt together, don't you?)

What do you do to keep your jelly rolls in fit shape?? I'm thinking of getting some baskets to keep mine in. Good for decoration, while they wait for their turn in the Queue. But really, I hate to see the poor things get all raggedy. Tanya wouldn't do that to you.
